Claim C-0004
In infants with moderate atopic dermatitis, a single cohort suggests that long-term exposure to particulate matter below 10 µm (PM₁₀) makes the disease more likely to persist to the age of three; in the whole cohort no association was found.
Structure
- Factor
- Particulate matter (PM₂.₅ and PM₁₀)
- Outcome
- Atopic dermatitis (eczema)
- Population
- infants with atopic dermatitis, followed to the age of three
- Relation
- increases · hazard ratio 1.19 (95 % CI 1.05–1.36) per 1 µg/m³ in the moderate subgroup
- Evidence grade
- D · single-study
- Caveat
- a subgroup result from one cohort of 150 children in Seoul; the overall result of the same cohort was not significant; a subgroup result, stratified by baseline severity; the primary analysis of the same cohort found no significant association (F-0009)
