Conditions & symptoms
I have a symptom or a diagnosis
- A-0002 Does indoor air make eczema worse?
For several factors yes: fine particles, nitrogen dioxide and indoor volatile compounds are linked to atopic dermatitis, and removing indoor sources reduces its severity.

One French daycare study links two solvents to recurrent wheeze, and cleaning, cosmetics and building work to wheeze treated with inhaled steroids. It is a single study, and two of its findings did not survive correction.

- A-0004 Do wood-based panels release formaldehyde, and how much?
Yes — the resin that bonds them releases it for as long as the panel is in the room. A modelled room with 20 m² of medium density fibreboard reached 0.093 mg/m³ at normal ventilation.

Factors
I measured something
- A-0001 How much CO₂ is too much in a classroom?
Standards put the line at 1000–1500 ppm. Measurement campaigns find classrooms above 1000 ppm most of the school day, with daily peaks past 5000 ppm.
Carbon dioxide (CO₂) · Schools & education · 8 September 2026 - A-0003 How much formaldehyde is too much indoors?
The World Health Organization guideline is 0.1 mg/m³ over 30 minutes. Measured rooms after new flooring or panels reach a fraction of it — the regulated numbers are limits for the product, not for the room.
Formaldehyde (CH₂O) · Formaldehyde & aldehydes · 8 September 2026 - A-0005 What raises volatile organic compounds indoors?
New flooring, cleaning, cosmetics and building work. Each is documented by measurement — but there is no health-based limit for the total, and the studies linking it to illness are single studies.
