Claim C-0016
In schools, a single large Finnish cohort found no association between the extent of inspection-confirmed mould damage in the building and the onset of asthma in students, and no dose-response.

- Relation
- no-clear-effect
- Evidence grade
- D · single-study
- Caveat
- one study, but a large one: 30 418 students in 110 school buildings followed to 2019, damage established by technical inspection rather than by questionnaire. The grade reflects that it is a single study, not its size. It speaks about schools and about new asthma; dwellings and asthma symptoms are a different question (see the Claim on dwellings).
Based on
Counter-evidence
- Finding F-0036: “Among primary school students, there was some suggestion for an association with new use of drugs for obstructive airway diseases, but with highest risk in buildings with limited damage.” (CKB 1416, p. 1)
- Finding F-0037: “Symptoms related to asthma were more common in dwellings with house dust mites, and visible signs of dampness or microbial growth in the building.” (CKB 0503, p. 1)
A Claim is Coridum’s synthesis of Findings and Observations; the evidence grade follows the study designs behind it.
