Standard or body
ISO 16000 series
Also: ISO 16000-3, ISO 16000-6, ISO 16000-9
The international standard series for indoor air measurement: sampling strategy, and reference methods for formaldehyde, volatile organic compounds, particulate matter, radon, mould and emission testing of building products in test chambers.
Why it matters indoors
When a guideline says “formaldehyde, 30-minute average”, ISO 16000 says how to sample and analyse it so that two laboratories get the same answer. Parts include sampling strategy (16000-1), formaldehyde (16000-3 and -4), VOCs by sorbent tube and gas chromatography (16000-6), emission test chambers (16000-9 to -11), and radon (16000-1 references). Product emission labels are based on these chamber methods.
