Intervention
Health education
Also: behavioural intervention, awareness campaign, occupant education, counselling
Changing what occupants do, rather than what the building or the appliance does — teaching when to ventilate, where to cook, how to use a hood or a stove. It is the cheapest indoor intervention and the one whose effect depends entirely on whether the behaviour persists.
What it is
Every physical measure in this vocabulary depends on a person. A hood extracts if it is switched on; a window ventilates if it is opened; a clean stove helps if the old fire is not lit alongside it. Health education is the intervention that acts on that layer directly, and it is the reason two identical dwellings can have very different air.
Its results in trials are mixed in an instructive way. Knowledge changes readily, measured behaviour changes less, and measured concentrations change least — and what change there is tends to decay once the study team stops visiting. Interventions that pair advice with feedback, such as a monitor the household can see, hold better than advice alone.
Coridum records it as an intervention like any other, with the same requirement: a result counts when the study measured the air or the health outcome, not when it measured what people said they had learned.

Each row is one Finding — a sentence as printed in one study, recorded with its page in the Coridum Knowledge Base. Follow the Finding number for the exact wording and the citation. Checked says who verified the row: machine means every automatic check passed and the surrounding text was read; person means someone read the sentence in the document. Rows are re-checked by a person over time. The studies are curated in the Coridum Knowledge Base; the reading of them together is a Claim, shown separately.
